PENSIONS
Pensions are often an integral part of financial settlements, but have to be considered in a different way to most of the other capital assets that may be available to a couple. This is because although the pension fund is valued, the reality is that you can never "cash in" that fund and physically get that amount of money in your hand. Also, the pension fund is a future foreseeable asset - a return on the investment will only be seen on retirement, usually aged 65 though sometimes earlier.
